The project
Kwizmo is an example of a more demanding AI project, where artificial intelligence is not used as a chat interface bolted onto a product, but as part of a wider business system.
We worked on the development of a platform that supports AI agents, works with internal knowledge and documentation, connects to existing information systems and automates multi-step business processes.
That architecture allows the AI to do more than produce an answer: within defined rules it can retrieve data, verify information, call connected systems, produce a result and trigger the next step of the process.
The project is one of Epix's most substantial references in building purpose-built AI systems for business environments.
What the project covered
- AI features and agent development
- working with internal knowledge and documentation (RAG)
- integration with existing information systems
- automation of multi-step processes
- API and data-flow development
- data processing and preparation
Capabilities
What this project proves
AI that is part of the business system, not an added feature.
Our role
Kwizmo is the product of the company Kwizmo. Epix was engaged as the external development contractor for the platform - the product, the business model and the clients are theirs; the software engineering was our part.
The engagement was not a one-off project with a handover. Development continues, and maintenance runs alongside it - meaning we stand behind the solution once it is in production and used by clients in regulated industries.
Why AI in a regulated environment is harder
Kwizmo targets environments where a wrong answer is not an embarrassment but a compliance problem: financial institutions, insurance, the public sector. That changes almost every technical decision in building the platform.
- answers must come from the company's verified data, not the model's general knowledge
- in many cases data may not leave the client's environment
- the same solution has to run in the cloud, hybrid and fully on the client's premises
- access has to be controlled and logged
- an agent's actions have to be explainable and verifiable
Connecting systems that were never built for AI
The platform does not sit beside business systems; it works inside them. That means connecting to environments of different generations - from modern CRM services to industrial controllers installed before anyone thought about programmatic access.
- ERP and CRM business systems
- industrial control systems and equipment on site
- REST and JavaScript interfaces for embedding into existing solutions
- several channels at once: web, messaging, voice and an API
- administration and analytics through an admin portal
What Kwizmo reports about the impact
The figures below are Kwizmo's statements about their product, not measurements by Epix. We cite them because they show the level of automation the platform was designed for.
| Area | Before | With the platform |
|---|---|---|
| Customer support | 5-minute average response, fully manual | 81% resolved without a person, 2-second response |
| Searching internal policies | 15 minutes or more | 2 seconds |
| Compliance report | 3 days | 2 minutes |
| Test case generation | 5-10 days manually | 10-15 minutes |
Kwizmo also reports more than 20 proof-of-concept projects across industries, and a first production-ready automation in under a week.
