Technology

Software and information systems development.

We build custom software for processes where standard products are not enough, or where several existing systems have to be connected. A project can include business analysis, UX/UI, frontend, backend, mobile development, databases, APIs, integrations, infrastructure, QA and technical documentation.

Information systems, web and mobile applications, portals, SaaS platforms, APIs and system integrations.

When clients usually bring us in

  • the existing system no longer keeps up
  • the work happens in spreadsheets
  • data is duplicated across systems
  • you need a new application
  • you want to modernise an old system
  • you're building a new digital product

You don't always have to build from scratch

If the existing system can be properly modernised or connected to others, that's usually faster and cheaper than a new application. We start by looking at what's worth keeping.

What this means for you

  • Fewer spreadsheets and manual status updates.
  • Less duplicated data across systems.
  • One view of the process for management and the team.
  • A system that grows with the company.
  • Less dependence on the one person who knows how it works.

How we work

Process first, code second

Before anything is built we map how the work is done today and where it stalls. Often part of the requirements disappears because the step isn't needed at all.

Architecture for growth

We design the system to carry more users, new modules and integrations without a rewrite.

One team, one responsibility

Frontend, backend, mobile, DevOps and QA work on the same project - one accountable team instead of three vendors.

What the technology practice covers

The technology practice covers the full range: analysis and architecture, development, mobile, integrations, data and AI, infrastructure, security, testing, rollout, documentation and maintenance. We can take on the whole project or a single workstream inside your existing team.

Development

Business systems, web applications, portals, SaaS platforms and product development.

Mobile

iOS and Android applications, including offline use and device hardware.

Integrations

Connecting ERP, CRM, DMS, registries and external services, with error handling and monitoring.

Data

Data model, migrations, data quality, reporting and analytics.

Infrastructure

Environments, releases, observability, backups and restore, in the cloud or on-premise.

Security

Authentication, permissions, audit trail, architecture review and security updates.

QA

Test scenarios, manual and automated testing, regression and acceptance testing.

Maintenance

Monitoring, defect fixing, updates and further development after go-live.

Technologies across the delivery and specialist network

We choose technology to fit the project and the client's environment, not the other way round. The list below is an overview of what exists across Epix and its specialist partner network; it does not mean every individual works with all of it.

  • Java / Spring Boot
  • .NET / C#
  • Node.js / NestJS
  • Python / FastAPI / Django

Where it makes sense to start

Starting pointFirst step
we have an idea, not a specificationa short analysis that breaks the scope into workstreams
we have a system that can no longer be extendeda technology review with findings and a modernisation plan
our supplier is not finishing the projecta takeover after reviewing code, infrastructure and data
we retype data between systems by handa data-flow inventory and an integration plan
the process runs in spreadsheetsprocess mapping and a step-by-step move into a system
we have a tender and a deadlinea requirements review and a split into workstreams with owners

How we build the system

Architecture

We define the data model, modules and system boundaries before development, so later growth doesn't require a rewrite.

UX/UI

You approve the user journeys and a prototype of the key screens before any feature is written.

Frontend and backend

The interface and the server side are built to one standard: readable code covered by automated tests.

Integrations

Connections to ERP, CRM, document systems and registries, with logging and retries.

Data

Migration, cleanup and data quality rules, so the new system doesn't inherit the old errors.

Security, quality, rollout

Security

Authentication and permissions, encryption in transit and at rest, an audit trail and a review before go-live.

Testing

Automated tests, regression and acceptance testing against your criteria, not ours.

Deployment

Separate environments, phased release and the ability to roll back within minutes.

Handover

Code, access, documentation and team training. The system stays yours.

Maintenance

An agreed response time, monitoring and a monthly allocation for enhancements.

FAQ

Can you take on just part of a project?

Yes. We deliver the whole project, a defined module, or add dedicated people to your existing team.

Who owns the code?

You do. Source code, documentation and access are part of the handover.

How do you price when the scope isn't clear yet?

With a discovery phase: specification, architecture, phases and an investment estimate. Only then is a quote realistic.
